Examination Rules:

The State Council for Technical Education (SCTE) or any other appropriate body would conduct the examinations in each according to the prevailing system.

1. Two end-term examinations (odd and even) would be held in each academic year.
2.
End-term examinations in any term would be conducted for all courses, registered and re-registered for examination, in the respective term. Special examination on courses in 6th term may be held within a month of declaration of result for benefit of pass-out students.

Registration for examination: Students eligible for appearing in the end-term examination for a course will have to register/re-register for examination of the respective courses in which he/she desires to appear in a term. Registration/Re-registration processes have to be completed within the stipulated period specified by the Controller of Technical Education (CTE) or any other appropriate authority.

Eligibility for appearing in end-term examination of a course:
A student shall have to regularly attend the classes prescribed for the course to attain minimum 75% of attendance (theoretical and practical classes separately) and secure minimum 50% marks in the Internal Assessment for the course to be eligible to register for examination of the respective course.
5. A student would not be allowed to re-register for examination of a course in which he/she has already earned credit.
6.
A student has to pay the examination fees, as prescribed by the SCTE or any other appropriate authority from time to time, at the time of registration/re-registration for examination in the course by filling in the prescribed form.
7. Manipur University shall ensure the publication of results of end-term examinations in any term within the term itself.
  Eligibility for Earning Credit for a Course:
  The following criteria are to be satisfied by a student to earn the credit for a course.
   

For courses having end-term examination:

  1.
A student must first satisfy the eligibility condition (ie. Obtain a minimum 75% attendance and 50% marks in Internal Assessment) for appearing in the examination and
  2.
Secure 40% marks in theory end-term examination and 50% marks in Practical end-term examination of the course separately in same examination in the scheme of evaluation.
   
For courses not having end-term examination – a student must secure 50% marks in the Internal Assessment for the course, as specified in the scheme of evaluation.
  Performance of a Student:
   

The performance of a student would be expressed in terms of ‘Credit point Average’ (CPA), which would be computed as below:

CPA (%) of a student for diploma program            ∑(% of marks obtained in a course  X  No. of credits for the course)
=        -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
            ∑( No. of credits in all the courses studied)


  Award of Diploma:
   

A student who has successfully completed the study of a minimum number of courses and has earned the stipulated minimum number of credits for each category of courses (i.e. Foundation, Hard Core, Soft Core, Basic Technology, Applied Technology and Elective Courses) as per specified evaluation scheme of Diploma Program will be awarded Diploma Degree in the respective discipline by Manipur University or any other appropriate body.

The students would be awarded classes on the basis of CPA (Credit Point Average) of a student, computed for the whole diploma program, as below:

75% and above First Class with distinction
60% and above and less than 75% First Class
Less than 60% Second Class
